When is the best time to visit?

Cabo Pulmo is located on the Tropic of Cancer, in the tropics. The landscape is desert-like, with a relatively dry climate similar to Southern California during most of the year. The climate is sunny and it's never cold.

Spring: Spring, particularly March, April and May, is PEAK SEASON in Baja Sur. Fishing and diving are excellent! The weather is temperate and perhaps the best of the year, not too hot and not too cool, and usually calm. Daytime air temps average between mid 70's and mid 80's, nighttime temps in the high 60's and low 70's, water temps average from low to high 70's.

Fall: The fall months of October and November run a close second to Spring for PEAK SEASON and the info in the Spring paragraph applies here too. Fishing and diving are great! The ocean temps are still in the mid 80's in October, humidity's returning to normal levels, air temps are mid to high 80's in October, high 70's to mid 80's in November. Evenings are warm and pleasant. September is the least-traveled month for our area and a great time to be in Baja if you don't mind warm temps. September is often the warmest month of the year and humidity is going to be high.

Winter: Winter is peak time for wind surfers! Weather systems in the USA create north winds in Cabo Pulmo favored by wind surfers. December through February daytime temps are usually in the mid 70's to the mid 80's, nighttime temps usually in the mid 60's, ocean temps usually in the mid to low 70's, but rarely below 70.

Summer: Fishing and diving are superb in summer! Be warned, it is very hot and may be uncomfortable! At Cabo Pulmo, daytime temps at the beach are in the mid to high 80's, occasionally climbing into the low 90's. Nighttime temps are near 80. Water temps are in the mid to high 80's and you can stay in the water for hours on end! Humidity does climb in summer, however Tres Amigos is blessed to sit right on the beach with ocean breezes that help to keep air temps 10 to 15 degrees cooler.

How Do I Get To Cabo Pulmo/Tres Amigos From Airport?

It is about 1½ hours drive north from the airport.

Rent a Car

Car rentals are available directly across the street from the airport. Rates depend on provider. The drive is pleasant and we can provide a map via email, once you have booked your stay. Renting a car is the best option if you plan to visit areas outside of the resort and Cabo Pulmo.

Hire a Driver
This is the best option if you are planning on just hanging out at the resort and within the village of Cabo Pulmo.
Henri and Pilu can make these arrangements for you and provide you a rate quote.
The driver is happy to take you to Soriano's superstore, en route from airport to Tres Amigos, allowing you to stock up on groceries for the week.

What if I don't Want to Cook?

Another option is to hire a cook to whip up a bunch of food for the week or by the meal. These arrangements can be made through Henri and Pilu. Just ask and it will be delivered!

You do not need to exchange your money, you will receive the rate of exchange from all the businesses, but you can get pesos at the airport (use the ATM machine only, not the airport bank kiosk they charge more) and at the Soriano's Market, or at any Bank or ATM in the area.

Shopping/Groceries

We recommend you shop for your groceries and snacks in Cabo San Lucas, before coming to Cabo Pulmo. There is a large market you can shop at near the airport called Sorianna's, there is a Costco in Cabo San Lucas and small markets in La Ribera on the way to the village. There is a very small tienda in town with a few basics, but not fresh food.  We recommend you bring any special items with you.  Cabo Pulmo is a very small community.

We also offer grocery service for a small service fee, just ask.  We can stock your fridge and shelves with the basics before your arrival if requested in advance. We are happy to accommodate all your needs!
